Jennifer Reagan is the fourth child in a swimming family. Being the youngest meant many hours of “deck” time as her siblings practiced and competed. She enjoyed her first swim meet at just 5 years old.
Jennifer went on to swim for Golden West Swim Club under the guidance of Coach John Woodling. It is here that she qualified for Junior Nationals in the 1,650 yard freestyle and the 1000 yard Freestyle. As a teenager, she swam for Long Beach Swim Team under the phenomenal coaching of Tim Shaw, World Record Holder and Olympic Medalist. It is under his coaching guidance that she attained Junior National times in the 500 and 200 Freestyle as well as the 400 I.M.
As a two year “Team Captain,” she received All America Awards in the 200 and 500 Freestyle all 4 years of high school. Her 500-yard school record still stands at Mater Dei High School after 19 years.
After High School she received a swim scholarship to Pepperdine University where she swam for Tim Elson and lead the team to many victories. During the summers, she swam under the coaching of Bud McAllister. Jennifer enjoyed being a Pepperdine team captain during both her junior and senior years culminating in 1997 when she earned the prestigious honor of “Swimmer of The Year“ within the Pacific Coast Collegiate Swimming Conference.
Jennifer also served as Pepperdine’s assistant swim coach from 1997-1998 until she graduated from Pepperdine in 1998 with a teaching degree. She further obtained a Masters of Education degree from Pepperdine in 2000.
She and her family joined the Makos in 2009, and live in Morgan Hill. Her son Ryan swims on the team as well as his younger sister Jessica. She loves to spend quality time with her family by hiking, biking and outdoor play.
